Whistle Monster

Leroy can whistle like an actual whistle. He is a New Orleans Saints Superfan. A few of my friends are Superfans.

Mark Morice is the “Bless” pope, and Keith “Fish” is the “Boys” pope. (of the Bless You Boys popes). They’ve had the same section in the Superdome since the late Seventies. Everyone dresses like a pope. Even Jaques Imo.

One Birthday, i got a free ticket to a Saints game but Fish told me there were too many Popes, so if i wanted the ticket i had to dress up like a Nun.

So, anyway, Back to the “Whistle”…

Leroy thought he might auction off his Whistle helmet, after the Saints won the Superbowl, and asked if I could make him a new one.

I was honored to.

At the time, i could only do it out of Steel. He said we’d give it a try. It ended up being a lot Heavier than his old one, and seemed to suffer from the regular abuse more than the Aluminum one, but it was really cool to make anyway.

Honestly, I had to keep the weight down, by using thin metal, and it suffered for it, and got all dented up! I had to make some adjustments because it was just too heavy out of steel, and he was a good sport about it. We gave it a try.

The one I made has a gold Fleur de Lis. He wears it sometimes, but he ended up keeping the Aluminum one, and wearing that mostly. Hopefully he calls me back, when the Saints win the next Superbowl, now that I have the equipment for working in Aluminum.

As of today, 2/29/2016, I’m working on a big Fish sculpture for the front of Keith’s house (Pictured at Right, above)
